  • What activities are available?
In the morning, the children have access to the GBKO cupboard. This contains a large variety of toys, games, puzzles and craft equipment. In the afternoon, children may choose from the GBKO cupboard or the sports cupboard. The sports cupboard contains various balls, hula hoops, stilts, frisbees, skipping ropes, et cetera.
  • Can my child use a device/smartwatch at GBKO?
Because we are a screen-free programme, we ask that devices and smart watches are not used or worn at GBKO. They can be handed to staff at the beginning of the session, and collected when parents sign their children out, or they can remain in the child's bag during the session.
  • What if my child is away from school or goes home sick?
Please let us know if you child will not be attending on a day they normally come to us. You can email, phone or text to let us know. (Sometimes text messages don't get to us, so we have a policy of always replying to texts, to ensure you know we got your message)
  • What happens with lost property?
We have a lost property box in the GBKO cupboard. We try to get lost items back to their owners as quickly as possible, and this is easy when items are clearly labelled. If we cannot find the owner, the items go into the school lost property which is located just outside the library.
  • My child has food allergies, what will happen when food is served?
For the afternoon session, you may send your child with a packed afternoon tea, or put extra food in their lunch box so there is enough for them to eat when we have afternoon tea together. Alternatively, you may provide labelled non-perishable food which we can serve them at afternoon tea time. We can keep these items in the kitchen at GBKO. We have a number of children who have allergies and take care to know who they are and what they can and cannot eat. Please be very specific about your child's needs when filling out the enrolment form.
  • What procedures do you have in place if my child gets hurt while at GBKO?
We have first aid trained staff, and an accident register. When a child needs care, staff fill in a form to detail what happened, and what care that was provided. You are asked to read and sign the form when you sign your child out. If your child needs urgent medical attention, your child's enrolment form has an area where you give permission for us to get emergency medical care if required. We will refer to this before undertaking a course of action.
  • What happens at the end of the term when school closes at 2pm?
GBKO starts at 2pm on that day. It is a free extra service we provide. If your child has a permanent place on that day, they will come to the hall as usual when school finishes.
  • What is the difference between a recurring and casual booking?
A recurring booking entitles your child to a place in that session, on that day every week in term time. A casual booking is not always available, and is available only if we happen to have a space on that particular day.
  • What if I work different shifts each week or have alternate week custody arrangements?
You may make a permanent booking, and let us know on the day if your child will attend that day, or further in advance if possible. You will need to pay for sessions whether your child attends or not. Alternatively, you could ask about casual spaces closer to the time, but there is not guaranteed to be a space for your child.
  • What happens if I want to change the sessions my child is booked in for?
We will do our very best to accommodate changes, and the sooner you let us know, the more likely it is that we can find a space for your child.
  • Does my child need to attend every day to be charged the daily rate?
No, the daily rate is charged for places that are booked each week on a permanent basis, it could even be one session a week. There is a small discount for booking all 5 afternoon sessions, though.
  • What if I want to cancel my child's enrolment?
We need one week's notice and your intention to cancel in writing.
  • Is there a waiting list?
We do have a waiting list for some sessions, when you book on Enrolmy you will immediately see if you have a booking or are to be put on the waiting list.
  • Do I still have to pay if my child goes on holiday during the school term?
If you have a recurring booking and you are going on holiday during the school term normal fees apply. If you are away for a month or more during the term, half price fees are offered during that time to reserve your child's place when you return.
  • Do I still need to pay if my child is sick?
Yes, you need to pay for a permanent or casual session you have booked even if you child is suddeny ill or away.
  • When do I pay?
We invoice in arrears through the Enrolmy booking system. This means that you will be invoiced after the week is finished. If you booked for a 10 week term, you would get your first invoice in week 2, and your last invoice in week 11 (the first week of the holidays)
  • How do I make a payment?
You may pay into GBKO bank account 12 3034 0429263 00 Please use your name and your child's name in the reference fields. You may also pay using a credit card using the Enrolmy system (fees apply)
